The aim of the game is to score 61 or 121 points in one game , its game phases - pegging and count .
In the traditional cribbage the winning game is for the player who first scores 61 points .
Every player discards 2 optional covered cards on the table , 3 cards stay on his hand in the game .
4 cards lying on the table from crib , important in the second part of the game - the count .
After that the opponent of the dealer cuts the deck of the cards and shows the top starting card
( the starter ) ,
which will take place in the second part of the game : count ( show ) .

The opponent of the dealer starts the pegging , then the players show for one card from each hand
and try to score the points , for combinations achieved by the means of their own cards and the cards
of the opponent .
The pegging phase goes on until the sum of the cards pips lying on the table reaches 31 points
Then neither the amount of the showed cards nor the number of the cards left count
- the pegging phase finishes .
We score the points for :
1.
the pair - putting down the card of the same value as the previous one =
2 points
( Q on Q , 3 on 3 , 6 on 6 ) ;
2.
the royal pair - for putting down the third card of the same value as
the previous
put pair = 6 points ( K on the pair kings , 4 on the pair fours )
DANUSIA 7

DANUSIA 7
3.
the double royal pair - showing the fourth card of the same value
as royal pair card
put down earlier = 12 points ( 4 on three 4ths , you mustn't put four 8-it exceeds
allowed 31 points )

4.
the run - showing on the table the cards that form the run ,
so the next set
e.g. as many points as the cards in a run of four : 3,6,4,5 *gives 4 points .
A,3,2
gives 3 points
but K,Q,A do not form the run
face cards are 10 points , A gives 1 point
For the run we count the set of the cards showed in turn , but only cards ( differentiating this from
the points for
pairs ,
royal pairs etc. ) they don't have to be showed just after themselves .
The run of three ( the player scores 3 points so he adds the third card ) examples :
4 , 5 , 6 6 , 5 , 4 3 , A , 2
or
K , J , Q
If the next player adds to the run of three the fourth one ,
he scores the points for the run of four so 4 points e.g. :
4,5,6,7 or
6,4,3,5
and 4,2,A,3 or 5,4,3,2 and so on
The run of four and more cards are sometimes formed from the set that doesn't form the lower run e.g.
the run of three
So we have ( 3,A,6) , adding 2,4,5 in different order gives the run of six ( 3,A,6,4,5,2 ) ,
The run of four ( 7,6,9,8 ) , ( 5,2,3,4 ) and similary of the same length but not exceeding 31 pips
and are formed from 6 cards of the pegging phase , or depending on the player from 4 or 5 cards of the count .
A in runs is counted as the smallestcard for 1 pip so the set
K,Q,A is not the run
5.
for 15 - the number of pips , so for the last card
that gives this amount of pips the player scores
2 points
Examples of 15ths : A,4,K 6,2,7
...
DANUSIA 3,
LESZEK A,
DANUSIA 5,
LESZEK 5,
scores 2 points for the pair of fives
DANUSIA A.
scores 2 points in the pegging for 15 pips,
DANUSIA
,
LESZEK
,
DANUSIA
,
LESZEK
,
scores 2 points for the pair of twos
and 2 points, for 15 pips , 4 points altogether.
Adding the card that makes 31 pips counting all cards
that are put we get 2 p.
6.
for 31 pips there are many ways of forming those points e.g. :
LESZEK K
DANUSIA J
LESZEK 9
DANUSIA 2
and Danusia gets 2 p. , for 31 pips
May possibilites of the set of 31 pips !
When do we have one point for the last card ?
When it is your turn and the number of pips till 31 is lower than the number of pips for your cards
you have to stop the game and say go on e.g. there are 27 pips on the tableand the player has only 7 ,
it's opponent's turn if he has A-2-3 or 4 , so he scores 1 p. for first three , if he has A and 2 he scores
double amount
Per 1 p. if he only has 4 and gives it , he certainly scores 2 p. , for 31 pips . But then he has not scored
1 p. ,
there is an extra bonus 2 instead of 1 .
You can get per 1 p. if the opponent has not the movement , it can happen more than once e.g. 25 pips ,
the enemy has K,Q
and we have 2 and 2 , we get 1p. for the first 2 , again 1 p. for the second 2 and for the pair of twos
2 p.
We finish the pegging phase after reaching 31 pips or when both players declare go ,
none of them has a movement .
The opponent of the dealer starts the secound phase of the game ,
so the one who started the exit with the first card in the pegging phase .
In his count takes part the card which he put on the table diring the pegging phase or the one left in his hand
and the starting card so 4 cards .
The player gets the points for the following combinations of four cards .
1. for 15 like in the pegging phase ,
2 points for each combination giving this amount of pips
2. for pairs , double royal pairs
and royal pairs
and runs
in the same way as in the pegging phase , and for all existing combinations .
3. for the suit ,
which is not in the pegging phase , only for the suit in the hand ,
7,
8,
J
for the suit in the crib but only when all four cards of the crib and the starting card
are of the suit and then gets 5 points
Each card takes part in all combinations .
THE EXAMPLE OF THE COUNT :
The player whisting DANUSIA , without the crib ,
as the opponent of the dealer
who then has the crib ( 2 cards from each player are covered ,
,
used in the count of the dealer ) .
Discarded 2 cards for the crib , the left are :
9
2
4
THE STARTINGCARDS
3
One time for 2 p. , for 15 pips 2 + 4 + 9 ,
the lack of the suit and pairs .
A run of three 2,4,3 has 3 p.
TOGETHER 5 points
After counting the opponent , the dealer starts a two part count , the count of the hand and the crib .
1. the hand count ( cards showed during the pegging phase , or left on the hand and
the starting card , so 4 cards ) - as previous counting of the whisting points for combinations .
2. the crib count ( the cards so far covered , two of them were showed by both players on the
table
and the starting card ,
so 5 cards ) , it can considerably increase the number of the combination of the points .
The dealer writes himself points for both counts .
THE EXAMPLE CRIBBAGE GAME
LESZEK -THE DEALER , the crib belongs to him .
DANUSIA -when Leszek the dealer she gets 3 p. , she is now without the crib = the pile
of four discarded cards , 2 cards for each opponent , she also cuts the cards in the left deck ,
after dealing per 5 cards to the opponents and then shows the starting card .

ALTOGETHER = 12 POINTS

Altogether
7
points for Leszek
Altogether
15
points for Danusia
So the result 7 to 15 for Leszek who dealt the cards as the first , surprisingly Danusia is leading ,
she did not
have the crib ,
now she is the dealer , so she will take the crib ,
and in this way to the end until somebody gets 61 p. .
Next we can only have the new pegging !
There are extra point bonuses during the peeging and the count .
-at the moment of starting dealing , the opponent of the dealer without the crib in the game gets
3 p.
for equalising .
- if the starting card is Jack ( lower jack ,the under (decko) , unter )
THE STARTINGCARD
J
the dealer gets 2p.
- if in the hand or the crib there is jack ( heel ) in the suit of the starting card ,
THE STARTINGCARD
8
J
this is the owner of the hand or the crib
gets 1 p. in the count .
We finish the game if one of the players gets 61 points ,
even if it was during the pegging or the count .
You have to write down the points systematically .
